Somatic Experiencing ®

​Contrary to popular belief, trauma is physiological in nature and can have a profound impact on functioning. Its influence on our physiology creates a variety of physical, psychological, emotional, and behavioural symptoms that are often confusing, overwhelming, and difficult to manage.

Somatic Experiencing ® is a bottom-up approach designed to support people with releasing traumatic shock that becomes stuck in the body, thereby transforming trauma’s deep wounds. This modality differs from many top-down, cognitive oriented methods by recognizing the wisdom of the body. It is gentle, slow, and focuses on the brain/body threat response, helping individuals reconnect with the present moment while addressing the root cause of debilitating symptoms.

Somatic Experiencing ® is both a skill-building and processing modality that offers relief from symptoms while promoting overall well-being. It is transformative and embodied, supporting individuals to build resilience, navigate life's challenges with greater confidence, and cultivate more curiosity, joy, and a sense of wholeness.
